Blarney Castle

Alright, I know that this was the same trip but I think that the Blarney Castle deserves it's own posting. For starters let me just say that I knew that it was going to be very 'touristy' but I couldn't have told you why until I got there. The energy in Blarney is just so much different than Cork. It was completely peaceful. I wish I could have recorded the sounds because I was certain the the animals along with the trees and such were singing the intro to the old school version of Snow White. Anyway, it was absolutely beautiful. I had no idea that the grounds of the castle were nearly as extensive and as lovely as they were. I also was no fully able to grasp how freaky it would be to kiss the Blarney stone until actually doing it. While in the awkward position, you are feeling a cross between knowing that you have just set yourself up to die a horrible death and complete excitement. I would highly recommend going to anyone who gets the chance. It is visited by tourists because it is worth it.

Jo, I am really impressed with everything! That is sooo cool that you found the Barry castle, even though it's not called that anymore. How awesome!
I just have to ask, do they wipe off the Blarney Stone before you kiss it? Or do you kiss hundreds of years of saliva when you kiss that thing?---Just asking, cuz' I would do it no matter what. It's truly awesome. That can be your new "pick-up" line when you meet guys. "Hey I kissed the Blarney Stone, want to see how it tastes?" LOL! J/K. Hope you are having a great day and can't wait for more posts. :-)

I so agree with Julz on the pick up line. I'm so jealous....it looks gorgeous there. I won't be showing pics of that to Dave cause our yard is slowly creaping to weed city and dying thus the lush green would kill him. I wonder if they would have let you use a clorox wipe first. I have some you can borrow if you'd like. :) Hope you have an amazing day and can't wait to see what else you do.

This might sound stupid and naive, but what does kissing the Blaney stone do? Bring you luck?

The pictures are beautiful! Keep the adventures coming! I love to read them!

Wow. The castle is utterly amazing. I'm sure the whole experience - the castle, grounds, the "music" of the animals and trees - had to be breathtaking.
I cannot wait until your return when I get to see even more of the photos that weren't posted. You have so many stories to share...
The highlight of my day was spending 35 minutes in Kohl's looking for a Ped Egg. Luckily for me, Anthony did wonderful and it was worth the search of the store because I know how badly I need to work on my feet.
Now that's excitement, huh?
Love you!
Enjoy the rest of your day.

I am glad that you had a moment of excitement and that it involved kissing. I once had a moment like that but my alarm woke me up. Too much info? Anyway, the house is doing just fine and the grass patch I am growing in the front yard looks great too. You will come home to the greenest grass patch that anyone in your neighborhood has (or at least that is what you neighbor told me the other day while I was watering the grass).

No. I did not wipe the stone with a clorox wipe first. As I was hanging on for dear life, it didn't seem that important to me. I do appreciate the pick up line, Julz. Not sure if there is ever a good time to use it but I will keep on file just in case.
Kissing the Blarney stone is supposed to give you the gift of gab. There are stories about Blarney (the castle owner) and how he could talk his way out of anything and so someone people started to kiss the stone so that they could have the same gift. There was a sign that said there is a difference between Blarney and Balony (sp?). Blarney would be asking a woman how old she is because you want to know at which age woman look their most stunning, where as balony is telling an old looking woman that she looks like she is in her twenties.

So Jo, how old are you? I just need to know how old a woman is when she is exactly 2 years away from being at her most stunning? J/K I can't believe we are having our birthday's in different countries this year. I'll sure be thinking of you!!!

All I can think of is Lucky Charms--I'm glad Maria asked, and you answered the question about the Blarney stone--I didn't know either. The pictures are great, great, great--Tony the Tiger, while we are on the sugar cereal theme. Can't wait to see everything when you get home!!! Keep posting!!!!

Does anyone know why Weenie Boy is growing just a patch of grass? Doesn't one usually grow a whole lawn or yard of grass?

Andy, if your grass patch is good and green, I think you should find a rock that looks like the Blarney Stone, put it in the middle of your patch of grass, and create a work of art representing good ole' Eire as a welcome home present for Jo. She could sip wine at her window while peering out at it, her eyes glowing with warm memories.
