Tower of London

After a very unrestful night due to this absolutely ridiculous stomach thing, I went to the Tower of London. I had a ticket after all and I was not about to spend the day in this bloody hotel if I could help it. So, I skipped breakfast and loaded up on peptobismol. This seemed to help enough. I stood in line for 45 min only to find out, I didn't have to wait. Sort of funny since the people behind me were talkig the entire time about wishing that they have prepurched their tickets and it didn't occur to me. Oh well, I got in. I listened to the tour. He was very funny and I would recommend going on the tour to anyone who goes there- it helped orientate me. Then, I wandered around the rest of the towers for a while before I headed to the Kensington Palace. (I must insert a little notice here. I successfully took the tube to the Tower of London, stopped at Buckingham Palace, then proceeded onto Kensington Palace.) I must say, that I really enjoyed seeing Princess Diana's dresses. I know that is slightly silly given all that I saw today but it was the thing that I could relate to the most. Also near that display was an entire section on Debutants. I am just wondering, why did that go away? It looks like so much fun! I want a reason to wear dresses like that and no, chaparoning prom doesn't count.

Hey Jo!

Sounds like the hotel situation is a real mess! Sorry about that! Bummer!
Just think...it could always be worse. My sister-in-law visited Paris this summer and her wallet was stolen. Talk about a mess abroad.

I hope the rest of your travels go well. We're counting down the days until you return.

In honor of all of the other "things I've learned" lists on this blog, I will now write what I've learned this summer thanks to Eli:

1. Sometimes you just need to nap.
2. Splashing in the tub can't help but make you smile...
3. Puking makes a person crabby.
4. Eating the edges of books is a metaphor for being a genius (or at least that's what I think)
5. Poop is messy.

That's all for now! Miss you!

I would like to second everything that Maria said in her blog...

Glad you finally found something that brought you a little joy and excitement on your trip.

Good luck exploring London. There is a lot left for you to see. Make sure you go ride the big ferris wheel...if I remember correctly, it is called The Eye of London.

Hey Jo! Glad your day went better today. I would have liked looking at the dresses also. We should try and find a function where we do have to get all dressed up. Maybe crash a wedding? We both have enough bridesmaid dresses. (But I guess I'd rather pick something out myself.) If you come up with any ideas let me know! Can't wait for your next entry.
Love ya,
julz

Hey Jo! I knew you would like the Tower, it's just hard not to. Did you see the funny Beefeater guys. Do they still wear the heavy wool in the summer, that wouldn't be fun. My scooter is working now and I have been zipping all over town! It's so much fun, I do get honked at occasionally for being to slow, but I am SERIOUSLY going as fast as I can! I did get up to 40 the other day, the wind and hill conditions must have just been perfect!

So when are you off to Scotland? Don't look under any kilts! Yeah for taking the tube, see it isn't that bad, just during "rush hour"

Travel safe and we will see you soon! Cheers!

I say "LOOK UNDER KILTS!" =) Have a fun rest of your trip! I loved the dresses and the royalty-- dress up stuff too. I think it would be fun to try.

I'm off to my parents for the big 40th anniversary party I have been planning for about 3 thousand years. Wish me luck!

See you when you get back. Hope your tummy is better. Congrats on mastering the tube.

Okay, it must have been a long morning because I started to sing London Bridge while reading your blog today, which is one of Anthony's favorites. Thank God it is nap time!
London sounds beautiful and full of unbelievable sights. Now if the stars could align and your tummy could start behaving you just might end this trip on a high note!
I'm off to pack and head up north for another weekend of camping. I'm sure I'll have a hoot visiting with my old Red Lake Falls pals, Molly and Rachel!
Take care and I'm thinking of you.

Where were Diana's dresses? I don't remember seeing those! So sorry to hear about your stomach--there is nothing worse!!!! I think the cure for you is to find a great place to eat where you can sit out on the sidewalk, take a few pictures, and write down all of your thoughts on the back of a menu. Then, steal the menu. Okay--I'm up at the cabin, where it is windy than hell. Can't wait to keep reading, so keep on writing!!!!!!

So this is nothing about the Tower of London, but you missed a bit of a storm last night. I didn't have power for almost 6 hours, and apparently Mkyo thinks thunder is the scariest thing in the world. I felt like I was calling on the spirits as I had every candle I own glowing red with fire....in the 85 degree heat. Finally at 11:00, and 2 hours of attempting to read colonial style, I took the Ambien! Sweet sleep! At 3, Myko starts flipping out because all of the lights and the TV came on. I, in my Ambien haze, went to calm him and turn everything off. SO, drinking coffee with morning and giving the bird treats to make up for the traumatic evening. Blessed be for the repaired power grid.

Hi Jo, Hope you are feeling better. Sometimes riding the tube is THE adventure, even more than the end event. Luckily it appears you have mastered the transportation. Any chance you will be able to take in a play? London has great theaters, not all at NY Broadway prices.
